What does public media mean to you? Maybe you’re part of the generations still influenced by the calm kindness of Fred Rogers from watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood as a kid. Do you proudly consider yourself an “NPR nerd?” Perhaps you’ve been glued to every season of “All Creatures Great and Small” on MASTERPIECE. You might have music from your public radio station of choice playing in the background as you read this.

Whatever your answer, tell us and other folks in your social circles why it matters during the fourth annual Public Media Giving Days. This growing tradition is a time to celebrate what #PublicMediaGives to you and your community — and to join together in giving back! Over these specially designated two days, we’re coming together to spread the word about all that public media means. And we hope you’ll take part. This is an important year for PMGD, as it’s the first since the elimination of federal funding. Your support can help take #PublicMediaForward.

When Do We Celebrate?

Continuing the Public Media Giving Days tradition, we’ve designated Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2 as the time for you to advocate for, celebrate because of, and proudly support your local public media organization and all they provide to you and the communities of your region.

Just as important, let #PMGD2026 be the time you make a first financial contribution to your local public media organization. Or if you’re already an annual or sustaining contributor, boost that generosity with an additional gift on May 1 and 2.

How Can You Get Involved?

  • Communicate to your family, friends, neighbors and colleagues about your appreciation of your local station.

  • Send an email or strike up a conversation.

  • Take to your social media platform of preference and declare your love for #publicmedia. (Please use either that hashtag or these: #PublicMediaGives #PublicMediaGivingDays #PMGD2026)
